Both...their velocities are enough to allow them to leave the atmosphere, but a small amount does remain in the upper atmosphere

actually.... the magnetic field of the earth shields helium form being blasted out by the solar winds

if we didnt have a magnetic field you would be going COUGH COUGH ....GASP... and turn blue

thankfully the moon is NOT magnetic and does NOT interfere with our magnetic field
