I live in a State in which every river, creek and lake is contaminated. I wouldn't think that the environment would be a democrat/republican issue because it effects us all! Our health and well being has alot to do with the environment in which we live. And I'm 100% sure there are other states with the same problem. So, are these people blind? I mean do they think that toxic gases and chemicals only have an effect on animals? Look at how high of a percentage cancer has jumped sense the invention of the atomic bomb and the microwave oven! Certain types of radiation are known to cause cancer for sure. As well as chemicals such as PCBs. I cannot help but wonder if those above ground nuclear tests we did back in the 50's (or whenever it was) has something to do with our health today. It takes a very long time for radiation to decay!

i share your sentiments.however pocket book issues-price of gas and the war in Iraq have taken precedence over the issue of the environment.please understand that 1/3 of the population of this country is not educated enough to understand the implications of environment and health care.they are the group easily manipulated by politicians, and are most vociferously against programs to protect the environment and universal health care.

This isn't the most scientifically oriented bunch we have ever had in the White House, more than once scientist were asked to alter or outright suppress papers that George just wouldn't go for
Its not blindness, its business that keeps these people from using the already available technology to reduce emissions etc. It costs money that they don't want to spend, and with George in the White House, they don't have to. Practically before he unpacked he rescinded the environmental laws that Clinton had put into effect. It may take a long time for radiation to decay, but Bush etal figure by then they'll be dead and they will have died with all that profit.

It's hard to get something like environment on the front page of the papers these days when record numbers of Americans are being killed in Iraq, Republican Congressional leaders being sent to prison but still getting their pay checks; Republican congressman resigning for soliciting former pages, North Korea ignoring Bush and setting off nuclear bombs, White House staff quitting as a result of the Abramhoff scandel, to name just a few.

I guess you better start talking if you want everyone to pay attention. I wonder where you got your information if no one is talking about it. Did you cover every water body in your state and do the water testing on each? Or, are you just waking from a 50 year coma and have not been made aware of the great deal of effort on the part of politicians, corporations, educational institutions, groups and individuals to stop pollution, take responsibility for our activities and make this world cleaner.

Because the dems already have the tree hugger vote sewed up. They also don't want to remind voters that they oppose any and all drilling anywhere for oil. Most environmentalist positions piss the redneck hoipolloi off and it makes them get up from watching Nascar and NFL and go the the polls.

If there is anyone else I have not p*ssed off with the above answer, I am truly sorry.

Precisely to stop scaring humanity. We have murdered each other since kindom come, imagine if we know the truth, leave that issue to the history channel, or just think of the person or persons that killed the 4 and 3 years old children in the Florida turnpike. Bone chilling isn't?

Yeah that sucks. But most of the efforts to clean things up get bogged down in government bureaucracy. Seems like it's all about the money and screw the enviroment. And it comes from both parties who are in power.

. Radiation has a known shelf life of 10,000 years..and the republican party is all for weakening environmental laws..did you know that some of the bombs we used in Iraq and Afghanistan released and will continue to pollute their environment for Another 10,000 years?

Poeple don't like to deal with the real problems on this earth. They know they are part in creating it so of course no one wants to admit when somethings really wrong. A lot of people don't know what to do to help fix it either.
