The world has been active for billions of years - its just we haven't been around that long!
We're not smart enough to last till the end of the planet; so we won't see it happen. As far as I can remember, from a gloomy teacher at school,, the Sun will turn into a red giant and consume the planet.

The Bible says that when the time comes the Christians will be raptured, 7 years of tribulation will occur. Jesus will return and the old heaven and earth will be destroyed and a new heaven and earth established.

Hopefully we will all be dead before this happens and it will happens but not in a few lifetimes to come yet, and as for how we will die? who knows?, no-one can ever tell you that, you life will be mapped out from the moment you were born until the moment of your death, hopefully in your case it will be when you are old and in bed asleep.
