Check to make sure the color cartridge you have is functioning. Take it out of the printer and look at the bottom copper portion to see if there is anything obvious that is wrong with it. Then dab it on a piece of paper or a tissue to see if colors are coming out. You should at least get a little dab of red, yellow and blue if it is working properly.

If you aren't sure, put that bottom portion in a little bit of water to see if the ink flows out (you will be able to tell right away). If nothing comes out, the nozzles are blocked and you need to soak it in that water until they are unblocked.

If nothing is physically wrong with the color cartridge, then you need to check your printer. If you said you've selected the color option then it's a pretty big mystery. You could always try reinstalling the drivers if all else fails.

Two possible causes: One, you might have the default setting in your printer software set to only print in "grayscale", and not color. Second, and I don't mean this to be insulting at all, but you might not have removed the sealing tape from the color cartridge when you put it into its slot in the printer. If that tape is still in place, no ink will flow. Hope this helps.
