Try the ever effective, "thanks", and if you know their boss, get them aside and tell them that the cashier is doing a great job.

I'm a cashier and the best way to get it known to them and really make them feel good is to send a letter to their boss and tell them what a good job the cashier did. The boss will relay it to the cashier, plus the cashier will get bonus points from the manager, you know?

A Thank You plus praise from a supervisor means alot ... ie "Great job, really outstanding work" and sincerely mean it.

A big smile and a Thanks would do.
An Appreciation before their head would be better. Or a Positive feedback on them. :-)
Appreciate those how do a good job, the same way we complain about improper service.

Tell her she did an excellent job. If you can add a free lunch, that's even better!

Are you their boss? Just tell them and give them a little raise.
