what happened to LIVE TV, can we still get it if so how?

You get it everyday with the news you get on your local stations.

All you need is for someone to be broadcasting, and perhaps an antenna to receive the signal.

It's much more convenient (for most programs, at least), to broadcast after the recording has been done. This helps to avoid the "fun" things that happen on live tv.
