I would only like to add to this recommendation, it is for the
young at heart, if you are over 60 it is not recommended
since there is a lot going on, drink, noise, inconvenient
approaches etc. You do not mention if you are single or
married/friend. If you are married and not so young, I
suggest you should not go if over 40. If you are single,
have fun and remember to take extra "lolly" with you as
Edinburgh‘s New Year does not come cheap. A tip from

Go to one of the major cities (Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow) are the best. Bring lots of friends! Start drinking at about 11pm and then at midnight go out into the main square and watch the fireworks. The cities are always packed at new year. There are always fireworks and the atmosphere is great.

street party in edinburgh,you can hit the bars,hit the street take in a gig or two and the atmosphere is amazing anyone who cant have a ball at new year in edinburgh just should'nt be out on auld years night.aw ra best for 2007 cos ah'll no likely see ye then.

Go to the Hogmany Party in Princes Street in Edinburgh, its great. Just remember to wrap up warm.
