I remember in Ireland in the early 1940's, childrens matinee tickets cost one and a half old pennies (about 1 cent US).

at most, it was about 10 cents, however there were theaters that showed older movies, called nickleodeons. kind of an old school grindhouse ( a grind house is a theater that shows old movies, or kung fu/horror movies, not just an upcoming tarintino/rodrigeuz movie)
