How many square feet per person?

I apologize for previous question as I must have incorrectly recalled what I read in the newspaper. Thank your for your responses. Lets try again. I read that entire USA population could fit in a circle with a RADIUS of 4.3 miles. How many square feet does this allow each person if the current population is 300 million?

4.3 miles = 4.3(5280) = 22704 feet.
The area is
A = pi (22704)^2
which is approximately 1,619,401,842 square feet
1,619,401,842/ 300,000,000 = 5.398 square feet per person

Wow. That's kinda cool to think about. But on to your question...

You would need to find the area of the circle with radius of 4.3 miles. Area = pi * r^2, so (3.14)(4.3)^2

Once you have that number you will have the area of the circle in square miles, but you need to figure out the area in square feet. So take your area and multiply by 5280^2 to convert to square feet. There are 5280 feet in a mile and you have 5280^2 in a square mile.

Once you have the area in terms of square miles divide by the 300 million people in the US.

pi*4.3^2=58.088 mi^2
58.088mi^2*5280^2ft^2/mi^2/300000000=5.398ft^2 per person a little crowded, don't you think? Each of us would get a square aprox 28" on a side. That is less than the distance from my nose to my fingertip when I'm looking st ahead & my arm is extemded out to the side.
