The way to calculate it manually is to increase the day by one for every year but two for leap years. So, for example 16th October 2006 is a Monday so next year it will be Tuesday but in 2008 (Leap Year) it will be Thursday. Naturally if the date is between 1st January and 28th February withing the Leap Year you just add one but compensate for the following year.
