1. Understand the devastating consequences of racism and tribalism. Be prepared to explain those consequences with people.

2. Learn more about the contributions people from different racial groups made to the development of your country.

3. Prepare a small library of web sites and books which people can read about racism and about the contributions to society made by different racial and ethnic groups. Some excellent web resources can be found on the Stop Hate 2000 Links page.

4. Visit a church that has many members of a different race. Understand how much in common you have with those who are of a different racial background.

5. Speak out when racially motivated hate crimes take place. Write letters to the editors of newspapers expressing your disapproval of racism.

1. Education: Be aware + make others aware that racism can have bad consequences, such as hurting innocent people for no reason at all.

2. Interaction: Mix with people of all races and understand that people are the same, no matter what color or religion they are. (especially important to teach children this)

3. Find things in common with people from other cultures, and mingle

4. (As long as you feel comfortable doing so) Speak out against racism, or at least report it, if you see any instances where it's happening.

5. Try to look past skin color and other cultural differences, and see all people as human beings. Remind yourself & others about the "treat others as you would want to be treated" rule.

1) Provide activities for young children to interact together and treat them as equals
2) Adults should treat all others as equals. They just have to think how they would feel if the racism was against them
3) Everybody should take the time to find out about each other
4) Have a community social for everybody. This will give people time to meet each other socially
5) Lead by example

discriminate.
4. Try to help people around the community of any race.
5. Don't allow children to watch things with a lot of stereotypes.

Educate the Public, have kids become friends with other races besides themselves, have a community based group function on racism, Make jobs hire all races, talk with children about racism.

1/ Legislation - thru anti-discrimination laws.

2/ Foster diversity in schools, workplace, public life etc

3/ Foster spirit of nationalism i.e. we are all citizens of country X rather than just members of our racial/cultural groups....

4/ Teach tolerance of others - dig deeper and look beyond superficial differences.....

5/ Encourage travel....the more exposed you are to the world around you, the more you realize that we are all more alike than we are different.......
