if it is auto, could be a multitude of problems, (definately NOT a fix it yourself), #check your trans fluid level and color first, if that gives you no indication, you will need a transmission specialist, (use a recognised repairer).

it needs to be repaired find a reputable transmission shop . . don't waste time / money going to a regular auto mechanic. Some shops will tow the car to their shop for free as part of the repair work. Some even will give you a loaner car.

depending on the vehicle our 1977 Pontiac Catalina Safari Station wagon only cost 300.00 for a complete rebuild on the transmission but our 1999 Toyota pickup cost almost 2000.00 to replace a gear in the transmission. Both cases my husband removed the transmission and took it to the shop.

Need more information. Is it standard or automatic? Could be as simple as a linkage issue, but more likely and internal problem, hydraulic leak, servo or planetary gearset

your contol lever never engage to your clutch. In other word your gear box had broken. You should sent to the workshop for replacement. There nothing can be done unless you can fix it.

That would be the result of your transmission going out.

Your transmission is shot. Have it fixed for around $1000.00 or junk your car. Sorry.
