It depends what kind of "old friends & new friends" you have. You always keep the ones whom you think is a "friend". They're the ones who are important.

Old friends have been there for thick and thin already so I would say that they are more important. I have some old friends and we don't see each other as often as once before but we are always on the same page when we do get together.

I grew up as an Army brat and moved all the time and at the time you don't know that you'll never see these people again and you
don't write or keep in touch so Old Friends are more important.

I would say that old friends are more important cause they have been with you through tick and thin. But then all friends are suppose to be important to you.

don't forget your old friends... but it's not always easy to get the new ones and the old ones to mesh...
my grandmother had a saying, cherish your friends, for the new friends are like silver, and the old ones are like gold.
