He made comments that were pretty insensitive towards Hispanics. Now, I'm not sure that was his intention, but it came off pretty rudely. He also got in trouble earlier in the playoffs for making fun of an almost-completely blind person, saying they had "a digital camera on their face."
His comments about Shawn Green a couple of years ago were even worse. When Green elected not to play on Yom Kippur, Lyons said, "He's not a practicing Jew, he didn't marry a Jewish girl. And from what I understand, he never had a bar mitzvah, which is unfortunate because he didn't get the money." Nothing like taking a cheap shot at the stereotype of the greedy Jew.
We should be thanking Fox for finally making this move. Lyons is a horrible analyst, an arrogant person, and a racist.

Lou Piniella made some comments re:Frank Thomas in which he used the terms "en fuego" and "frio." Lyons made some comment about how Piniella was "habla-ing Espanol". And apparently that was racially insensitive. Plus he had already been in trouble before for being insensitive ... Commented on Shawn Green not playing on Yom Kippur because he is Jewish. Also he made comments about a fans glasses which were actually for vision-impairment.

Yes. Making racist comments, especially on television, is unacceptable. Lyons should have known better, since this was not the first time he's gotten in trouble for saying inappropriate things on the air.

no jews had nothing to do with his comments...he made some vaguely innappropriate commentary about lou piniella speaking spanish.
Pretty petty stuff to get fired over , and I'm a liberal from the bay area. Go figure.

PLUS he made a lousy, LOUSY, unfunny joke about Lew's ability to speak English and then talked about Lew stealing his wallet. I'm sure Lyons got fired for telling a LAME joke.

He made comments on spanish statements from Lou Pinella that were taken as derogatory toward hispanics, i.e. saying that he was watching his wallet around Pinella, other stupid things
