there is so much gray in this world.. people need to realize that the extremes, both positive and negative, aren't the real story, that doesn't' just apply to the US, it also applies to Islam and the Muslim world. It also applies to what's left of the communist world.. heck, it applies to everything!

Is it heroic for The Nation to twist the story and give out a minor number of facts with out the whole story in order to provide disinformation so people like you with a limited ability to search for the truth can pretend to know something? There were horrible things done there by both sides. Some were done intentionally, most were not. So I suppose this is the way you support your troops, but not the war.

No, that's horrible! I have never seen this story before, but if these villagers were truly slain and our forces were not under attack at the time, then it is a grave atrocity and there should be consequences for those responsible. However, this link you sent doesn't go into alot of detail about what was happening at the time of the incident. Is there evidence to show that the military forces were not under any threat from insurgents at the time is happened? Please forgive my ignorance but I have not read this particular story before so I do not know alot of details behind it.

its ironic you automatically give credence to something that has not been confirmed and you automatically assume its the soldiers fault. haven't you heard that many of these so called 'atrocities' are just photo shopped? remember the one that caused such a stir of the old woman in front of a home in iraq crying and the caption said how the mean old u.s. soldiers bombed her home and killed her family but then weeks later this same little old lady is supposedly carrying the body of an infant from another home...the photos were examined and proved to be fake plus there are many, many reports of citizens being paid to pose as victims....and i wonder how heroic was it for terrorists to kill 3 thousand plus american citizens or the 350, 000 plus iraqi's under saddam regime, where were you then, why weren't you raging in righteous indignation then?... the site you provide is a anti-american biased site promoted by the liberal elite....the men and women of the military have a difficult job, they have to obey the orders of their superiors and they sacrifice a lot for you to be able to voice your opinions so give them a little credit and don't buy into every lie that floats within your visual range...and don't ever disrespect the men and women in the military, especially not in front of me cause cowards like yourself will not want to hear what i have to say

If the soldiers killed those people in cold blood and not in the heat of the moment or through stray gun fire then they deserve to be punished.
That said it's unfair to paint all of the troops over there with the same broad brush. Punish the guilty but don't let their guilt tarnish the rest.

I dont need to go to your link but to tell you unless your there the situation is different and you cant prepare for whats placed in front of you until it happens.
You on the other hand would probably never be faced with that situation or anything close as I-am glad-dont see you enlisting in our voluntary armed forces. If you have served before and been in combat then you should understand if never in combat facing those life and death situation then SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

You weren't there, we don't know for sure what the facts were, so we can not, must not pass any kind of judgement. There are far too many instances in this world where the actions of people are judged without all the information being known. I am not only talking about Americans, either.

The biggest problem I have with this whole thing is that it never addresses any kind of motivation for the Marines to have just decided to start mowing down civilians, yet the Marines can give motivation as to why the believed that they were firing on enemy combatants.
Do the actions of Hezbollah in Lebanon not show us anything about how these terrorist work. This most likely is a situation were these cowardice terrorist fired from locations surrounded by civilians, provoking response by our troops and in the response civilians were killed.
This makes more sense to me than the idea that a bunch of marines just snapped and their superiors did too and ordered them to just mow down civilians.

You use a link from a socialist, progressive secularist ,liberal newsletter to try to make your point??!! Pleeeese.
That might work for the "Bush haters" who will eat up anything that is "bad America", but most of us see your post for the liberal trash talk it really is in your effort to try to influence others to join the cult.

Seeing as the article is from a left leaning publication with it's own agenda.
