what is the adjective for the person is scared but does it anyway?

in my novel Esther, its a story of a girl named Esther Brandeau a jew who travels to new france in disguise as a boy because jews werent allowed in new france. ANYWAY..so like in the first chapter she is captured and questioned by the king he asks her if shes a jew and she doesnt answer because she is SCARED and then eh tells her to lower her trowsers to see if she is circumsised she is so scared terrified actually, but she does it. what is the word for that? Fearless? no because she does experience some fear...

In this case "stupidly" because the king is bound to notice that she's either not a he or has had a very bad circumcision. Further questioning is sure to reveal that she is a Jew. Where the heck is New France anyway and why in the world would she want to go there? I think I detect a few small holes in this plot (pun intended.)

Try describing her thoughts instead of labeling her fear with a word.

"Esther was scared out of her mind, but for fear of her very life, she did as the king ordered. A million thoughts ran through her head as she lowered her trowsers to the floor, all of them laced with fear. But as happened a million times before, with her fear came courage."
