My english teacher is Korean, but he went to Cambridge and majored in English. Even though some teachers' native language isnt English, if they are qualified enough, and they speak English at the level of other English teachers, the fact that they have an accent shouldn't be a problem.

For grammar, a non native speaker is probably better as they actually learn it. I work as an English teacher in a foreign country and most of the teachers are non native and I have never thought "how can they tach English?"

i know one and she is a native speaker but is also completely off the wall. she is a really nice old lady but most people dont believe she could possibly be serious enough to teach an important exam subject.
she teaches us about how important love and friendship are but doesnt teach much about shakespeare etc. she always talks about when she was a child etc. but she couldnt possibly control the class or stick to the course. my class +i love her to bits even so, and wouldnt switch her for any 'good' english teacher.

I am a native speaker, but I had an English teacher in highschool who was from some other country, and we could barely understand her accent, and she spelled words wrong. We all complained, and after a few weeks she was replaced.
It was ridiculous!

i think those who r not native speakers are just as good, maybe even better. i know kids in my class who are in AP English who learned English when they were12. they speak better English than other natives.
dont worry about it. as long as you know how to teach, you will do fine.

i do no longer think of that there will be many non nearby audio device coaching English in British faculties yet whilst they are, then they could be greater desirable at coaching the non nearby pupils. in the event that they have had to learn English then they would understand how perplexing it quite is and the thank you to conquer the themes greater desirable than somebody who did no longer

Oh yes, only in Alabama. The sad part is, these people are native. It has to be a southern thing.
