he is an excellent guitar player..... and for that response from INCONGRU. if you had half the talent joe satriani had. you would probably still be an idiot. and its obvious you dont play an instrument, and you just posted an answer to get your points. i have played guitar for over 16 yrs now and his music is hard to copy. he has mastered the guitar.

I agree incongru! He uses his giutar for masturbation not rock n roll!! A million notes a second does not make a great guitarist. A heavy drop D chourd can speak volumes more than a high pitch noise that sounds like a dieing bee!
Mind you he's better than me, so I can't slate him for that. I think he also showed Steve Via a thing or two, who without we would have never have had the amusing guitar part at the begining of 'Yankie Rose'! lol

I like Joe Satriani, I think his music is highly complex and beautiful. I try to model my own guitar playing after him, Zakk Wylde, and Dimebag Darrell.

Joe Satriani is fantastic and only the saddo's who can't play an instrument will call him down. He is BRILLIANT. I would have liked to have seen him. RESPECT..

I like his music, especially his guitar playing he is not such a good cook though. Stay out of the kitchen Joe and spank the plank. LOL

he's a twiddler who appeals to adolescents. And I think Sigmund Freud would have something to say about the symbolism, the macho strutting associated with homorerotic music of this type. The electric guitar is obviously a penis symbol for those unsure of their sexuality.
He's a noodler whom only other guitarists listen to. And the're not really listening to the music, all they want to do is "learn his licks", it is a weird counter culture which actually has little to do with MUSIC.

Simply the best guitarist on the planet - got all his CD's and DVD's.
Watching G3 Live in Toyko while bumming around on answers ('Searching' on the DVD is amazing).
Seen him this year for the 1st time at the Manchester Appollo, UK on the Super Colosal Tour - awesome!!!
..........and he tought VAI.........surely that says it all.
