Cause it annoys me (to put it lightly) and they say there emo cause they listen to My Chemical Romance or Green Day. It really makes me want to slap them CAUSE THOSE BANDS ARENT EMO!!! They don't do any emo things, only listen to popular emo bands, don't dress emo and stuff. They also don't listen to any other unsigned emo bands. It drives me mad. I am not saying i am emo, cause i am not and at least i know it.
Its the same with kids saying they are punk and stuff. They only listen to Blink 182 and Sum 41 and instantly say they are punk. And then they say stuff like "i am cool cos i lyke greenday, how punk am i" or however they talk. Again i am not saying i am punk, cause i am myself and even though i like punk, i am not a WANNABE
Ok my rant is over. Over to you...

I don't think it does. But I haven't had anybody say that they are emo to me. And honestly, I don't get what the big deal is with emo! Emo music and emo people! I don't get it! So some people say just cause you like a certain type of music makes you emo like punk rock or something. I hate that! Cause it's stereotyping. So some people might say that being emotional is a bad thing. I don't get that cause why would it be a bad thing unless you're like a crazy person or something. So some people might say that being emo is bad cause you don't understand those kind of people and think that all people that say they are emo are all just the same. That's not right and it is still stereotyping. I hope this emo thing is just a phase cause it's still confuses me a bit and annoys me to death that some people think this way about emos. I have no idea if someone would say that I'm emo. But I do not want anyone putting a label on me. I am me. And that's all people need to know about me, for those who don't know me personally. But to sum up, emo isn't bad and you shouldn't stereotype them. You shouldn't stereotype any group cause not all of them feel the same way or think the same way or act the same way.

I'm getting on a bit now and I really don't get this emo thing can someone explain to me what it is?? or do the people who say they are emo's not understand themselves?? I'm 41 when I was younger a Goth listen to stuff like Sisters of Mercy and The Mission etc. A goth usualy dressed in black and kinda had a down side to them. But I always dressed in black, had long spiky hair, wore make up but I was a Glam rock into stuff like Posion, Motley Crue etc. My Chemical romance seem far to lively and less depressing than old school goth stuff. They sound more like moden Glam to me!! I think this emo thing is just a state of mind not a rock culture!?? Rock is rock punk goth glam what ever what is the big deal! the thing that would anoy me, should I be young, would be a guy/girl who said she was a punk but didn't look like one. I know things a different now and people tend to listen to all kinds of stuff which is great! I listen to everything now! from Green Day, Blink etc to Old school stuff like Kiss etc etc etc rock is rock just get on with it!!!

listening to emo bands or songs doesn't mean a person is emo, that's really pathethic. I think it would annoy me also if a person comes and tell me he/or she is emo because the person listens to emo bands. I mean ok if you like the style punk and listen to punk, etc rock music related then it's cool i listen to rock music but don't show it off and tell ppl you are a punkrocker and a emo person b/c that to me is straight up wanna be. haha sorry but if thats you are then it's all good but don't try to be someone your not.

yes I do hate that ****....those people are poseurs who wanna be punk/emo because it is in. I do know people who are emo who dont dress it, they listen to emo (real emo) and act emo. Emo and punk are not fashion choices its a life style. most of them are straight edge and vegans....and they still dont dress emo and punk. because everyone stole their style and they are about not conforming to society so many has stopped dressing like that...and they do get upset when their fave bands go mainstream because the poseur/teenybopper/scensters ruin them. If you go around saying your punk or emo then u just admitted to being a poseur....real punks and emos dont brag about being punk....and shopping at hot topic doesn't make u emo or punk either ( thats why they give u dirty looks when u go in there..b/c u got on a hollister shirt...and think your punk b/c u bought an MCR shirt. **** I get called emo for listening to Hawthorne Heights....I'm not emo...and neither are Hawthorne Heights.....people label other people....because they have no life...because emo and punk have been so exploited and min stream over the past few years...its kinda hard to find real ones who embrace the true lifestyle....

YES. It is a genre of music. A genre that sucked, then was pretty good, and sucks again (Exept for some underground bands).
But luckly in a couple years this "fad" will disappear. So all the Scene douches will stop being "emo" or "punk".
Remember people: Lables are for soup cans.

Sometimes it does but human consciousness itself is never fixed but continually changing and developing new categories and concepts. These determine how we experience the world, so that knowledge is always the result of a series of conflicting positions - hope this helps.

i listen to green day and i am not emo.
thet isn't the part that annoys me, it is the fact that other kids call each other emo by what they wear, then the other kid goes, "no i am not"
