The cam shaft lifts the valve stems to actuate the valves on the engine, controling air intake to the cylinder, exhaust from the cylinder,along with duration of these two events.

It spins around so the valves know when to open to let gas in and then exhust out. it's a engine part.

it is to make the pistons to go up and down to make the engine run when the gas goes into the pistons then the spark plug sparks it off the makes the motor run
