It's not going to 'break' your computer, if that's what you mean.
The light that's flashing is the disk access LED. It is telling you that information is being transferred from or to the hard drive.
When Windows starts, it's loading alot of programs and information into memory; that's why it takes so long. If you click on a program or file icon, that request gets loaded into the queue, and will get responded to when the operating system has available cycles, usually when things have quieted down just a bit.
In the end, being impatient, by not waiting for the OS and other startup softwarre to load, isn't going to hurt anything, may make you feel better that you've 'got the ball rolling', but isn't really going to help your program load that much faster.

Your processor processes your commands by distributing the processing time up (that's where RAM comes in). The Processor takes a nibble of this command and goes round in a circle till all the commands are complete. But while it's working on another command, it stores what it was doing in RAM. Just be careful if you have an older PC because they don't take the abuse so well.

your are more likely to be limited by RAM than CPU in but if you try to do too much at once you risk a crash, which these days font tend not to be fatal just need a defrag. The more you try to do at once the slower your PC. If you need certain things when you start defrag and organise your disk so that the most accessed programmes are at the front of your hard disk. If it constantly crashes stop doing it though and try and find out what the cause is, the more crashes the harder it is to sort out

It's okay to have multiple processes running, but remember that each thing will take longer to load. I usually have no more than four things going at once on my computer at home which still had dial-up.

computers have feelings too you know!!
try upgrading the L2 cache with a superdrive dvd, replace the ram with the memtech 300 harddrive and the psu with a fishtank after you have done all this your computer should be running fine.

Up to a point and then you crash. Give it time, as you can push all you want and it will not move any faster.
