Why risk it?

How often in your life do you plan to be pregnant? There will be plenty of time for roller coasters later.

The short answer is maybe...
A 3-week pregnancy is small and well padded by amniotic fluid, the likelyhood of injury in everyday activities, including vigorous exercise is small.
However, some coasters pull up to 5 G's (that's 5x the force of gravity) during accelerations on downhills. Also, you may be more prone to motion sickness while pregnant. The effects of intense and very short (milliseconds) durations of high gravity on a pregnancy are not known (it would be unethical to conduct a study on pregnant women to find out). You could have microtearing of the immature placenta. There could be stressors to cells that are developing.
I would not reccommend high intensity coasters for anyone who is pregnant, however, some of the older wooden coasters are probably quite safe, given that they don't have the intense G-forces associated with modern coasters, and they don't have as many neck and back jarring turns and twists.
Most ride owners warn that pregnant women should not ride their machines, along with those who have heart conditions or who have other problems which may cause them to lose consciousness during the ride.
You could always get an adrenaline rush with a good aerobic workout and save yourself the worry.

My goodness, of course not. Is a 45 second thrill ride on a roller coaster worth risking the well being of your child?

At any time during pregnancy, you should avoid anything that jars the uterus...rides, boating on rough water, horseback (unless your OB/GYN says it is Ok depending on your level of fitness and exercise prior to pregnancy. I have a friend that was able to ride her horse all during her pregnancy, but she has ridden since childhood almost every day and is also in excellent physical condition.

Probably everything would be ok. Later on, it could be a bigger issue. There are signs all over these rides that say "no pregnant riders" so take their advice and sit it out.

Bad idea lady. It may suck not to ride anything for nine months but yeah:

"Many miscarriages happen very early in the pregnancy, before a woman may know she is pregnant."

well...I was pregnant, 5 weeks and did not know it. I went to the state fair and rode rides all that. A week later, I miscarried. No hard core proof that is what caused it, but I would not risk it.
