Because, historically we don't progress psychologically to handles the differences among ourselves.
A majority rules the minority.
What ever race/color the majority is, that is the "most" accepted race.
Look at the great old nations and look at the races involved and
what social level they were considered.
Romans scoured other nations for money, information and entertainment.
And if there is not a color difference, we use religion or heritage as a dividing factor.
The next great evolutionary process to truly unite the globe will be in psychology and sociology.
Until this happens, we will never truly advance.

I love skin color- in a good way.
I consider each human a tapestry of skin art and they matter, no matter the base color or added embellishments, each have a beautiful essence to them.
I just wish that people were not prejudice so much...Yet the reality is...if not skin color, then eye color, region for world or car type or what ever- stupid, fearful people hate for any reason. I pray for them...life is too short to waste time and energy on such.

Some aren't. at least, not yet.
My daughter is 4. Our area is reasonably ethnically mixed. The other day my wife was asking about a boy's name in her class, and trying to make sure my daughter knew who he was. My daughter piped up 'he has brown skin'. Most of us would say of course 'he's black'. My daughter if asked her skin colour will answer 'peach'.
She knows people come in different skin colours, but has no concept of people being 'white' or 'black'.
I know it won't last, but its still nice.

Some human beings have the need to feel more powerful than others and putting people down by using their most obvious feature their skin color, they are able to achieve this feeling of superiority.

A question I often have myself...
I have an answer based on my career in Equal Employment Opportunity, but it's too long to go into...
Let's just suffice it to say that for many groups who have legitimately been treated horribly for many years in the past, at some point we as a group must put that behind us and move on (not to do others a favor, but to better ourselves....)

The question should be "why are we afraid of color"
I am not at all obsessed but many people cant look passed it
I on the other hand have beautiful friends and family of many ethnic backgrounds and cultures and love every single one for who they are ..not their color
Sad thing is some who do have issues with race look down on me for having most of my friends out of my race
IT DOESN'T MATTER!

Many times is not the skin colour... Is the attitude they take about themselvs. I've seen white man who hate black people, but they might have a black friend, and say "but not this one, he is cool".
Attitude is what really matters.

Truthfully I think they are nuts.
Why anyone would want to lay under heat lamps or what ever just to get a tan is one of the most puzzling things I've ever seen.

We are retards! The truth is we have got it made, life is very good for most people and so they have nothing better to do now but create their own drama and problems. We will never learn.
