hi everyone..today i need ur help as usual.. my teacher asked me to find out wut is the meaning of benchmark and to use it in a sentence.Since my mother tongue isn't english, i am not that good in vocabulary but i am working on it..so plz help and plz don't tell me to use the dictionary because i already know the meaning but i can't use it in a sentence.plz help..

BENCHMARK is something wich can be measured and used as a standard that other things can be compared with.
sentence:- Tests at the age of 7 provide a benchmark against which the child's progress at school can be measured.
(it's obsolutely correct! Consulted a dictionary for meaning and sentence :) )

A benchmark is to see if a student has learned what has been taught to them, and to see how much they already know of what will be taught in the future.

its something good used to compare other things. Like this country's law against chemicals that damage the environment is a benchmark to all to live up to. (Something good has happened that other places, people can look up to as a goal for them to achieve also)
