Have 1992 motorhome for sale was told that the cat.conv. is pluged and the engine does run well at full power.Is there a way to check this out. Have just had back s so can not drive it it run fine the last time i drove it but was not trying to run it full power.

by using a pressure gauge.drill a small hole in front of the catalytic converter.hook pressure gauge into the hole.start engine and drive the vehicle at full throttle while observing the gauge. 2 or more psi indicate clogged.

Take it to a muffler shop and they will check it out by using a pyrometer, which tells the temp of the cat. There is a normal temp variation from the inlet to the outlet.

you will lose power and also smell like rotton eggs,also it will turn cherry red.

YOU UNBOLT IT AND SEE IF THERE IS A NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE.
