2003 and above, uninstall isn't too bad. Run a normal add/remove uninstall. Reboot. Then download and run the NAV/NIS uninstall utility you can get from Symantec. Reboot.

Check the Norton web site. They have uninstall programs for each version of Norton. You have to use one of their uninstallers as that prevents a virus from being able to use add/remove to uninstall Norton.
