If it's your second or more, this is what I plan on doing. I'll make a postcard that looks like a movie premier. It will say something like "Kylee's a Big Sister" coming Summer 2007 at a hospital near you. Staring Kylee .... as "Big Sister" "Dad's name" as Daddy to be...again and "my name" as woman in labor. Don't miss this summer's newest movie. It's a love story, adventure, and horror film all in one. And I make up a little thing about what the "movie" is about. Cute, huh? Or you can make a postcard similar that you switch wording around for the first one.

Years ago, a freind of mine mailed a piece of blue & pink ribbon tied together in a double bow to all those who are important to her. Note that she didn't include any other type of card but did clearly put return addressing so that the recieptient would know who it came from
Needless to say that generated alot of response and got the word out in an unusual way

I would mail the your parents and in-laws a card congratulating them on becoming grandparents. And as far as the friends, envite them over for a dinner and make the theme "babies".....have things like you would have for a shower..or play games like you would have at a baby shower. Let them in on helping come up with different names (even if you dont use them, they still feel like a part of it), If they take the paper, put an add in it congratulating them on being "aunts, uncles,cousins..and so forth. Invite them over and tell them to bring something for a baby..let them think you are gather ing things for an other family....like for christmans or something....then let them in on that the family is yours. Good Luck...and CONGRATULTIONS !!!!!!!

I let my parents know by giving my dad a "Happy Birthday Grandpa" card instead of a "Happy Birthday Dad" card. The timing was perfect for me, but I don't know if that'll work for you. I had a super creative way of letting one of my brothers know, but if I told you what it was, you'd all know his name and undoubtedly stalk and kill me. :) But it was clever. I told my other brother by calling him up and asking, "Is Uncle So-and-so there?" Long pause. "What?" "Is Uncle So-and-so there?" Longer pause. "Are you telling me what I think you're telling me?" "Yep!" "Dude, my sister's having a baby!" As for my friends, I just told them outright. I let my mom tell our extended family. She's been wanting to be a grandmother since I was 19, lol. We were even cheesier with my in-laws. "What's that Kevin Bacon movie called with the Kate Bush song in it?" "She's Having a Baby?" "Yeah, that one. Speaking of which, so is Elizabeth."
Good luck!

I found a book called "Grandma's Memories" - sort of like a fill in the blank journal for a Grandma to give her grandchild. I wrapped it up and gave it to my Mom on Thanksgiving, when everyone was there. It was priceless to see their faces.
We did the same for my mother-in-law. The only difference was that I had to say "...that's not for you to give Nick and Anna" because she already had two grand kids.

You could do what my sister done and get a copy of the baby scan and make multiple copies before inserting them in a card and give them out to family and friends

My relatives always ask for a "Christmas Wish List" from me... I would put down the usual items... Pjs, socks, books and interject babay items: crib, stroller, etc.
Amazon.com has a wish list that's on-line, or you could write an email. You could also start a baby registry and send friends/family the link.
Best Wishes!

Just tell your mom and dad that you are pregnant and then see what their reaction is. If they don't say anything have your son/daughter put a shirt on that say that they are a big brother or sister.
