The Queen of Spain used to be a Greek Princess. I believe that she is Prince Philip's second cousin. As both the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen of Greece are descended from Queen Victoria, they are related. The Duke is Queen Elizabeth's second cousin once removed; they are both descended from Christian IX of Denmark (she being a great-great-granddaughter through Alexandra of Denmark, and the Duke a great-grandson through George I of Greece). The couple are also third cousins; they share Queen Victoria as a great-great-grandmother.
To add to the relationships, Juan Carlos and Sophia are related several times. Juan Carlos is a grandson of Queen Victoria-Eugenia of Spain, born a Princess of Battenberg. Victoria-Eugenia was the only daughter of Prince Henry of Battenberg and Princess Beatrice of Great Britain. Beatrice was Queen Victoria's youngest child. Victoria-Eugenia of Battenberg had the distinct honor of being a favorite of Empress Eugenie of the French, Napoleon III's widow. The closeness between the family of Queen Victoria and her friend Empress Eugenie's led to Beatrice naming her daughter in honor of the two older ladies. Some have also rumored that this friendship between Beatrice and Eugenie was the result of the English princess' love for Eugenie's unfortunate son, the Prince Imperial who died in Africa during the Zulu Wars in 1879.
Sophia is a descendant of Queen Victoria through both her parents. King Paul I of the Hellenes was the youngest son of King Constantine I and Queen Sophie, born a Princess of Prussia. Sophie was the third daughter of Kaiser Friedrich III and Kaiserin Victoria, who was Queen Victoria's eldest child. Sophia's mother, Frederica of Hanover, was the only daughter of Duke Ernst-August of Brunswick and Princess Victoria-Luise of Prussia, Kaiser Wilhelm II's only daughter. Wilhelm II and Queen Sophie of Greece were siblings, both being children of Kaiser Friedrich III and Kaiserin Victoria. Duke Ernst-August was closely related to the English royal family, as the head of the old Hanoverian royal family. Ernst-August was the grandson of King George V of Hanover, only son of King Ernst-August of Hanover and Duke of Cumberland. Ernst-August was the younger brother of Edward, Duke of Kent, Queen Victoria's father.
I don't suppose they can keep up with all these links themselves!

The royal families are all related. The Russian families (the Czars) were related to the French (Louis I through infinity) and the British, Portugese, Spanish, Austrian, and Prussian royal families. Over the centuries for increased wealth, power, land, and politics, the royal families all came to be realted to each other. That is in large part why Russia and England fought Napoleon I. He overthrough the French government, the Spanish families, and married into the Austrian family.

The British royal family is of German descent as far as i know.
And the Spanish are Roman catholics whereas the Brits are Anglicans. Don't think the pope would agree somehow ...
"The House of Windsor, a branch of the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha line of the House of Wettin, is the Royal House of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and each of the other Commonwealth Realms. In 1917, during World War I, anti-German feeling among the people resulted in the Royal Family exchanging use of all of their German titles and house names for English-sounding versions.
The German name had come via Queen Victoria's marriage to Prince Albert, son of Duke Ernst I of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in February 1840. Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, however, wasn't the Prince Consort's personal surname, but the territory ruled by his family; his house, and possibly even his surname, was Wettin.
Thus, the name Wettin was renamed Windsor, which also became the name of the Royal House through an Order-in-Council of King George V."

truly, Lord Lucan's factor isn't solid, because of the fact the SPANISH royals do no longer look particularly Spanish, being often Greek and French. definite, they're appropriate by using Queen Victoria and by using Queen Henrietta Marie, between others. SM Sofía (Queen of Spain) is likewise a 2d cousin of HM Philip. Prince Charles and Diana, and the lads famously spent many trip trips with Juan Carlos, et al, whilst the lads have been youthful

I know of two British royals who married Spanish royalty: Beatrice Leopoldine Victoria (b.1884) married the Infanta of Spain in 1909, and Victoria Eugenie (b. 1887) married King Alfonso XIII in 1906. I think these women were granddaughters of Queen Victoria.

Queen Elizabeth II is descended from Queen Henrietta, a Spanish infanta, consort of Charles I. Prince Philip is German-Danish.
One of Queen Victoria's granddaughters married a Spanish Prince, and converted to Catholism, but I forget her name.

I think Henry VIIIs daughter with Catherine of Aragon, Mary Ist (aka. Bloody Mary) was the last monarch to marry a Spaniard/catholic. She married King Phillip of Spain and brought the Spanish Inquisition to England. She also officially returned England to Catholicism and therefore legitimised herself and her parents marriage. She died childless.
After she died her half sister Elizabeth I came to the throne and we became a Protestant nation. After that no more Spanish blood!
