I've got a very overgrown back yard (new to the house) and want to clear land and plant a garden, grass and flowers. We have worked weekend after weekend cutting, hauling, pruning and clearning and it's still pretty crowded back there. Any experience and advice on clearing vines that have grown into tall OLD pine trees, clearing poison Ivy and poison Oak, digging up old dead bushes, and removing years worth of pine straw and leaves would be greatly appreciated. I can NOT afford to hire the work out but I can afford some great super tool or machine that would cut my load considerably if there is such a thing.

You could do a controled burn, but call the fire department..
If you can not afford a professional, that means you have to do it and it is hard work....talk your timje and do it right....rip it all out, rotar till the ground a few time and let it sit for a week to see if anything start growing back.....it is hard to wipe out Mother's natures work....It takes time...
good luck

The "quickest" mode of transportation could have been a prepare, IF it become going your way. a deliver may be the 2d, likewise, IF it become going your way. accompanied by utilising using a horse. Then a carriage or wagon. Then finally by utilising foot.

Even if you dig up poison oak and ivy, they will probably come back unless you burn it off, be careful when you burn, pine trees leave their little needles everywhere, and they can cause a bad fire if not watched very close. even hours after you burn and think you have the fire out they can catch back up and burn... just be very careful.

I think James said it best. If you have a garden tractor (or know one who does), I recommend that with a tiller instead of a walk behind roto-tiller. They can take more punishment and it will save some time.

We rented a bobcat to do this very same thing. They're easy to operate, and the company dropped it off/picked it up. It was a couple hundred dollars, but was well worth it!

Rent some goats! They eat every thing. I mean, everything!! They are great and fast, too. This is the new way our city and county do the cleaning. It's true!
