the U.S. helps develop other countries to have a good economic basis with that country and when that country is on it's feet it will strengthen the global economy ( or so it's thought)we'll also be able to negotiate contracts, treaties, etc. more easily with the foreign country because of our "good relations"(we helped them out in a tight spot)

Im assuming that develop a country is referring to the rebuilding of Iraq and Afghanistan. The reason for the US to develop nations is so that the world is a safer place and the nations that are being developed are made up of a democracy that allows freedom for its inhabitants. Also by developing a nation a connection is made that allows for friendly future relations with that nation.

If by 'we' you mean the USA, most people would say that since we believe that the natural human yearning is to be free, it is in our best interest to help develop countries with that idea in mind, in the hopes that private property rights and the rule of law will become an important part of the culture... but that's just my 2 cents.

Please give more details...is it a real country or ficticious? Do you need a 'how to' list. If so, what type of country are you starting with? Culture, geography, climate, education are all things to consider.
