Right now your baby is about 2 inches long. It wasn't the baby that you felt. Now that you're pregnant, things are beginning to get moved around and a bit squished inside your abdomen. It was more likely gas or your bowel or digestive tracks that you felt.

Very soon, though, you will be feeling your little one dancing around in there!

Good luck.

Many women report odd feelings or feeling bubbles and/or butterfly feelings. I know it is common and most women start to feel something. I am not sure what the feelings are, but it shouldn't really be baby kicking yet. I felt the butterfly feeling alot, especially when I would sit down or lay down. You could ask your doctor the exact reasoning for it, but I know it's common. I was over weight too, and I noticed the kicking and punching a lot later on, but it is hard to share with others because of the extra weight. That was the bad part, I felt bad for my husband. There were a couple good kicks and stuff he felt though! Good Luck

There is absolutely no possible way that what you felt was the baby, I'm so sorry...at that week, your baby is approximately 2-2.5 inches...at 12 weeks, the only thing you are feeling is gas bubbles, or your intestines moving upward and out toward your sides...skinny people or second time moms are more likely to feel the baby move much earlier than first time moms or heavier moms...they usually feel the baby between 16 and 18 weeks and first time moms or heavier moms feel it around 18-22 weeks. Sorry!

OK!! there is nothing to worry about. I have had 3 children and they all started moving early. I just checked a book that I have: What to expect when you are expecting. It says that you can start experiancing fetal movement in the fourth month of pregnancy. says as early as the 14th weak but usually during the 18th-22nd weak. Then it goes on about other things about fetal movement. Mostly you should let your doc know you felt your baby move so they can document it. Good luck on the baby.

I got this book from my doctor. Your's may also have the book..It is very helpfull for both new and experianced mothers.

I have also included the books free website.

I hope this helps.

If I remember, you usually don't feel it until 20 weeks or so, but if your baby is big then I guess it's possible. But I would guess that no, it wasn't the baby.
