my hair color was always brown..a dark shade of brown..
but since last summer sumthing weirdz been goin on with it..its now much lighter than before..so r my eyebrows...its like i got roasted or something..
i didnt notice til my friendz started pointing it out...theyv all been asking for the brand of 'dye' i use...
ive told my mom about it; she said that this is normal coz its something in our gene pool, or whatever...
But the thing is, was she just telling me that to shut me up?
Has anyone else's hair decided to just - lighten up? Is there some kind of scientific name for this case?
Thanks...
( i do hope that it's not a disease..next thing i'd know; "honey, uv got 3 months to live...")

You don't say how old you are. I really doubt that you have a disease. If anything it could be hormones.
See how blonde I am? I used to have redish hair and now it is gone. Evey time I had a baby my hair got darker. That happened to my sister too, when she had a baby. My youngest son started out with red hair , it went then to being very blonde and now it is a very dark blonde. His daughter stated with red hair until she was 8 then it stated to get more blonde and now there is very little red in it. I have a friend who at a young age went from brown hair to a silver-white hair.
Were you out in the sun more this summer? Have you gone through puberity? Have you changed your diet extreemly? Are you starving yourself or have an eating disorder? There are many factors that can make your hair color change. Like your mother said.....it is probably genetic.
If you are very very worried as your mom to take you to the doctor.

My husband was a blond growing up (white blond) when he was about 14 years old it changed, pretty quickly I might add. Now he has very dark brown hair with some black in it. My father was born blond turned red then brown back to red blond when he first got married and now has dark brown hair also with a lot of black in it. It's kind of fun looking at his pictures from year to year. You're fine, just be happy everyone wants the color you have! ; )

As a teenager, your body goes through all kinds of changes. From your voice changing, your height, weight and even your hair color. Some people's hair gets darker, some lighter, redheads can become brunettes, etc. No it's nothing to worry about. It may change again before you are done with puberty.

The sun will lighten your hair, so that's a reasonable explenation if you've been outside a lot....but on the other hand, there are a lot of people who's hair changes colors, lighter or darker, for no reason. It could definitely be hereditary.

I don't think it's a disease. It's probably just your body changing. Everyone goes through something like this. Breathe a sigh of relief, dear, I'm sure you have more than three months to live.
If you still are concerned, just check in with a doctor about it.

How old are you? My hair changed texture when I hit puberty...around 12 or 13 i guess. That could be it.
