Look here. Supplementary means adding upto 180.So,the addition of the two angles is supposed to be 180.
Therefore.the addition of x+8 and x will be 180.
=x+8+x=180.
=2x+8=180
=2x=180-8
=2x=172
=x=172/2
x=86

At any vertex of any polygon, the interior angle and the exterior angle are supplemental, that is, for interior angle A, exterior angle A = 180-A. The smallest interior angle will thus always be paired with the largest exterior angle. x + 8 is superfluous until you designate what x represents:
x + 8 = 180 - A
Now, if x = A, then
x + 8 = 180 - x
x + 8 - 8 = 180-8-x
x = 172 - x
x + x = 172 - x + x
2x = 172
2x/2 = 172/2
x = 86

If x represents something else, you have a different solution.
