I've been told that a program exists that pays a monthly $ amount as reperation to those of Native American heritage . However , they must be at least 1/4 Native American to qualify . Is any of this true ? If so , what government agency would one need to contact to begin the process of qualifying ? Any and all help is greatly appreciated - Thank you for your time and response !

Ahh, the Great White Myth. There is no such thing as reperations for Native Americans. There is such as a thing as payment from trust funds which was funded by private businesses who profited from the use of tribal land. Unfortunately, this only applies to a few tribes which had signed peace treaties with the US government. Also, back payments are a rarity because most of the court cases concerning these trust funds are still being tried thanks to the US government. Whenever a case is resolved in favor of a tribe, the standard operating procedure is for an appeals court to rule that the judge was biased and overturns the court ruling.

I am native American and it really depends on the tribe you belong to. For my tribe it is 1/4 blood (which has to be pr oven). I know oTher tribes that go as low as 1/8th blood. You will need to contact the tribe to which you belong. I had to fill out paperwork on both my parents....which villages they came from, their parents and which villages they came from and I had to give all their tribal numbers. If you don't have anyway to prove your blood...good luck.

its true but I don't know the name. What I do know is that you have to prove that you are Native American and not just claiming. There is a procedure that is used to make this determination.
