How would one go about finding tourist attractions enroute to a certain place they plan to visit?

We're planning a week-end adventure in our small RV. We're headed about 6 hours away from our home. This is short notice. Where do we find the tourist centers or how can we find something to see as to make plans in advance?

The net is great- really. Just do searches along your route. There is one site called unusual America or something that was great and also the local town or city sites will carry that info.
