Do you mean alliteration? As in successive words beginning with the same consonant sound or letter? It's been a long time since I read that book (it's the one about Mary Call and her siblings right?) and I don't have it in front of me but try finding two or more words in a row that start with the same letter.

If your teacher asked you to find alliteration in this particular book that strikes me as weird. Alliteration is most often found in poetry.
