You know, I don't know how to answer this exactly, but I'll tell you a brief version of my story. All my life, I wanted a tattoo, but I'm scared to death of needles. When I got mine a week after my eighteenth birthday, I was scared to death. To make it worse, my artist would not allow anyone inside for me to hold my hand. Having nothing to really focus on, I just bit my lip and wrung my hands. It hurt because it was on my pelvic bone, and it felt like he was carving into my skin. When he was finished, I walked back out into the waiting room and told my friends "never again." But now, after all that, I want another one. I've heard most people say that it's addictive, and I agree with it whole-heartedly. If you love your art, it's an amazing experience and hopefully nothing you'll ever regret. So often people can't wait to do it again.

Before my tattoo I never would have understood your question. At the time, it was very much "hurry and get it over with" but after the fact it did put me in a kind of cathartic state.

I believe ( what-ever floats your boat), honey. They say that with every phobia, there is an addiction. I have a very addictive personality also. So I would say yes....but it's probably an expensive one.

The old school artists say that once the ink gets in your blood you just can't stop and I guess they are right. I didn't get my first ink until I was 40 but now I have 7 tats and want more......
