Why can no longer the cons tell the version between legal wiretapping and warrantless wiretapping? Wiretapping is totally legal if the excellent procedures are used. as a remember of actuality in an emergency, a warrant could be gained after the reality and it remains legal. the challenge with this president is that he feels he's above the regulation and would not ought to shop on with the procedures. Get the warrants, if even after the reality Mr. President.

There is absolutely NO reason for it. It just sets a precedent for the disregarding of the Constitution. And the FISA law says that they can DO the wiretap without a warrent IF they go back to the FISA court withing 72 hours, which is MORE permissive to the government than you suspected. But if they did that, it would impede POLITICAL spying, which is what the law was designed to prevent. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

sigh.....because even though there are judges available 24 hours a day it takes days to fill out the paperwork and the justification and even that does not guarantee that the judge will let it go on the first pass. The highly monitored warrant-less wiretaps are for the quick hits that we don't have the time for the red tape. These warrant-less wiretaps have only happened 30 times with extreme oversight, so you are getting your panties in a wad for no reason at all.

This did not happen just under the Patriot Act.. it has been in an Act since 1978, they have always been able to do it, with or without a court order.. this is nothing new... The only thing the Patriot Act did, was take a bunch of Acts already in place and clump them all into one Act.. to make it easier.... Sorry you feels so strongly about it.. but it's for your own safety.. and has always been

Its easy to get a warrant when what you are looking for is in a certain place , when you are tapping into phones receiving calls from suspected terrorist how can one predict (which is what you would have to do) who and at what time they will call . If you catch someone planning something , are they to disconnect until they track down a judge to get a warrant signed , and lose useful info , or get the info and get a warrant later??? If the warrant has to be pre-obtained, we're screwed...

Actually, I don't think support for this was universal amongst conservatives.
I'm betting that some Republicans who supported it were seriously arm twisted.

Because if they make it law and make it retroactive then no one in the Bush administration, including Bush could be prosecuted for breaking the current laws.

It's so sweet of you to worry about the terrorists.
I'm sure they feel the same way about you.
Do you have many friends that are terrorists?
