I paid £996.46 for 140 shares in 2oo1 at





































6.94and have just received £150 for them so what are they up to,

I bought 140 @ £6.94 in 2001 and they have just returned only £150 when I paid them £996.46so what are they doing?

Presume thats 7.61 dollars or pounds.
If the company redeems it's shares it means it pays back the original cash borrowed per share which it issued say 25 pence.
The current market value of the shares is irrelevant if you are/were holding shares which they are ENTITLED to redeem at cost.
Sorry you give insufficient information for a proper answer. but that's probably the correct explanation here.
