Does it matter to you that you would disappoint them? Does it matter to you that they love you, care for you and would feel disappointed? Do you love them as much as they love you? Only YOU can answer that. But, if you smoke, don't you think they can smell the cigarette odor on your hair, your clothes, in your breath and throughout your apartment? On top of disappointing them with such poor decisions, do you also wish to show them how little you care for them, or do you wish to show them how deceitful and untrustworthy you are? Either way, you lose, don't you... or don't you care?
I smoked for about 42/43 years (even as I competed in Gymnastics, Collegiate Wrestling and while I taught Swimming, Lifesaving, Gymnastics and Martial Arts) and I regret the day I started smoking as a teenager! I stopped smoking 10 months ago, and I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be able to take a deep breath again! I hope I have not done any permanent damage or caused that awful "crab" (lung cancer) to have an "appointment" with me. Oh, yes, I CAN indeed imagine how annoying it is to have someone telling another to quit smoking... so I won't tell you that. I WILL, however, say that if you add up how much you spend on cigarettes in a week and you multiply that by 52 (weeks), you'll see how much money you burn up in a year and you might consider that it's all wasted money which you could've used for something else (save it and buy a plasma TV or something else you really want).
By the way, I've already lost a couple of dear friends and relatives to the effects of alcohol consumption... they were about your age when they "stopped getting older." They never got to have children, or see grandchildren... and the suffering they put their loved ones through...(parents, siblings, other friends and relatives that loved them). What a total waste of humanity! Good luck and best wishes.

Eventually they will find out. Do you want it to be now or later?
You know that smoking can and will kill you along with alcohol. I won't preach to the choir with that.
Just clean up the mess, Febreeze the hell outta everything and chill.
Obviously consider quitting or cutting down or coming clean with your folks.
Otherwise just do as you have been doing and let the chips fall where they may.
Good Luck.

nobody wants to hear the guilt trip that their parents are going to give them about drinking and smoking, I am 34 and I hide the ciggarette smoking from my mother myself, but in all honesty you should try and quit now because it will be a lot easier for you to quit now than it will be ten years down the road

If you're living on your own, then what you do is your business, not theirs. Just clean up your dirty ash trays and pick up your underwear before they come, OK?
