when men/women pleasure themselves do they think of their spouse or b/gfriend, or someone else and is that really healthy for a relationship?

Personally I would not want my husband (if I was married), to pleasure themselves thinking about an old girl-friend, or woman he saw at the mall, or something like that. Yet, they say about all of us will do that at some point in time and is perfectly natural. Is it healthy? I really don't think so, but maybe Dr. Ruth is on Yahoo's Questions / Answers and will answer this one......LOL!! ( She is a talk show sex-therapist)!!

No way! I think you can think about anything you want--go with the feeling in your body, not your thoughts about what's "right." I think that as a supplement to a healthy relationship, it can't hurt. Yet, if you and your partner are not being intimate, it is an effect of the bad relationship.
So, you are either just having pleasure or you are in an unsatisfying relationship.

They probably think of someone else, but that's something that , for their own safety, they should keep to themselves.

They usually think of someone else.

It doesn't change the relationship.
