How can Met fans seriously think they will win The World Series?
First of all they have to get past St. Louis (that won't be easy), and IF they did, how can they really think they will get past The Tigers pitching staff? The Tigers team ERA in the post season is 2.92!

Seriously, let's get real!

vertical732...I love your passion! I really do.
Take another look at Kenny, he isnt the same Kenny of years gone by. He has put all those ghosts to rest, and you forgot about our bullpen. It will be nice to see david wright placed in the same caterogy as Frank Thomas and A-Rod. And reyes? Sure he is quick, but he has to get on base first!!!!!!

Todd Jones isnt the only one in our bullpen. But you might find out quick enough what I mean.

I'm a Pittsburgh Pirate fan so I'm rooting for Tigers with their ex-pirate management crew but funny thing is Willie Randolph is an
ex-pirate too and maybe even managed by Jim Leyland(?). If the
Cards win I'll still root for Tigers. Loved that catch Brandon Inge
made the other night. They should put that fan on his own base
ball card for helping Inge hold on to the ball.

I will give the Tigers all the credit they deserve, and they are playing the best baseball out of anybody right now. You still have to play the game though. All that rest that they have now could be a good thing for them, but whomever wins it out of the National will have some gained momentum going into the series and will be fresh. That being said I will not even try to compare pitching staffs between the Tigers and Mets(if they defeat St. Louis), but I will say lets settle it on the field and see the best team win; whomever that will be. You never know in this game called baseball.

Rum Shots!

No guarantees in baseball sir. Remember the Tigers beat a superior Cardinal team in the 68 series? I would think Detroit will win though.

The Mets may have a good offense, but we already proved to the Mets' neighbors in the Bronx that good/great hitting doesn't matter when facing great pitching.

Plus, how could we lose to the Mets or Cards when we just finished game 7 of an 11 game winning streak?

It will be a great series either way. I am leaning towards the Tigers over anything from New York!!!

The Tigers are the real deal, the Mets are 1/2 the team that they were in the regular season.

You need to get real yourself.

So which Bonderman and Rodgers will show up? Will it be the cracking under pressure giving up walks followed by hits followed by more walks. I remember good old Kenny, walking in the winning run in game 7 of the NLCS vs the Braves in '99. Revenge on him will be sweet. I had the wildly erratic Bonderman on my fantasy team for a while, up and down and all arround, which way will Jeremy go?

Sure good pitching beats good hitting, but what about great hitting? What about a team that beats up on middle relievers like they are steaks thrown to lions. What about a team that takes pitches, works counts, has speed and power. A team with the explosive power of the Yankees and the speed of an 80's Cardinal team that had Vince Coleman and the Wizard, only faster. A team that came back from a 7-0 lead to win 8-7. A team that scored 3 on Mariano Rivera to beat the man in the 9th.

Let's get real, Placido Palonco, you're joking. Todd Jones?!?!? No, let's get real, a slow and sloppy outfield with weak arms vs a team that like to test arms, sorry to be too real. Realness is Kenny Rodgers facing the Mets in NY, with all the pressure eating into him, staring in at having to face....

Reyes - speed kills
LaDuca - 300 hitter, contact hitter, spray hitter
Beltran - oh my, he loves the postseason
Delgado - can we say clutch
Wright - 300 hitter, clutch, hit the game winner vs Rivera, power and speed
Floyd/Green - power and will hit to any field
Chavez - speed kills again
Valantin - wiley vet, not very clutch, he only hit 2 grand slams this year

Sorry boys, but real is the Mets offence and defense, time to put the pretenders down.

I think its natural for people to root hard for their team, but I don't seriously think the Mets can take the National League.

good pitching beats good hitting, so your theory is solid. I saw it happen in '04 when my Red Sox pitchers pitched out of their minds in the WS
