OK, its my freshman year, (first semester) in freshman english 1, in college. I have a report/essay due, ASAP! Sort of like an investigation report, the negatives and positives of one topic. First i need a thesis then the essay. But im not sure where to start. It really does'nt have to be anything specific but preferabaly somewhat interseting. I could really use some advise on a topic or anything that might get me started. I have no idea where to start as far as looking for information on this stuff so i came here. Well thanks for taking time to read this. Please any positive advise. Thanks.

How about instituting National Health Care within the US? There is plenty of info & debate to be found on that topic. Or, the current hot topic, illegal immigration & presented solutions.

What are you interested in? What do you know something about?
Do you know how athletes are chosen for college/pro teams, and why those who are not, aren't?
Do you know anything about how grades are assigned? What does "graded on a curve" mean exactly?
Might you be interested in the college admissions process? What weight is given to the ACT/SAT and what weight is given to class ranking and how much weight is given to the courses you took in high school and how much to the clubs you belonged to?

Basically, there are many, many questions surrounding you that you could write about, you just need to find one that you're interested in pursuing. For example, I helped a young lady once investigate how important childhood vaccinations are, what the consequences can be of not being vaccinated, why do public schools REQUIRE certain vaccinations...I just kept asking her more questions until she had a beautiful paper!
