Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols.
If thats too much all at once just listen to Buddy Holly for the 50s, The Beatles for the 60s, David Bowie for the 70s, and Bob Dylan for the 60s and 70s

i love the music of those eras. We used to have an oldies station in NYC but that got eliminated. I was just as upset as the seniors were.
I love the some of the bubblegum pop of the 50s/60s. I discovered that i like soft rock from the 70s- Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, 10cc. Reminiscing by the Little River Band- a great feelgood song.

Avoid Motown, go Northern Soul and Funk.
Sly & the family Stone were magnificent, especially for hot summers evenings. Anything from the 'Stax' record label gives you the soul of motown but with a real good dance beat, especially try Edwin Starr & Isaac Hayes.
Carlos Santana is the ultimate chillout artist.
Roxy Music, T Rex, early David Bowie & the Velvet Underground are really sexy.
For the 50s, the Blues is the place to go, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker and Cab Calloway.
Enjoy the experience.

And it's always worth getting Some Frank Sinatra

Stevie Ray Vaughn and Santana are some of the greatest guitarist after Hendrix. I'm a big fan of Pink Floyd, especially the Dark Side or The Wall. Doo Wop songs are pretty nice too. I guess it would depend on what kind of BPM's you like. To tell you the truth, it's all good!
