I was recently in the toilet of a restaurant and noticed the sign on the wall "Please put ONLY toilet paper down the toilet."

Consequently, I pis5ed in the sink, then put some toilet paper down the toilet.

In another public toilet, there was the notice; "Please do not graffiti this door - it is illegal to do so." I could not help but feel that this was an invitation to graffiti the walls, ceiling and every other door in the building, so long as I left that particular door alone....

Then there is the sign at the local park - "Do not walk on the grass, walk on the path." Of course, if I'm hopping, running, cycling or rolling around, the grass is fair game - yes?

... and why do people invite you to "ring the bell for attention", when they have no interest in paying attention to the little dance you have prepared for them? Why invite you to ring the bell in the first place if they don't actually want you to ring it?

Diamond in the Rough - maturity is a concept invented by those less able to have fun than me. I'll grow up when you get a sense of humour.

Banality is the death of creativity. So if anyone asks, you are doing your part to make the world a more creative and spontaneous place. It's for the good of mankind.

...At least, that's what _I_ tell people, when I do it. Also, try walking into places that say "no shirt, no shoes, no service" wth JUST shirt and shoes. (I wussed out whenI did it, and wore a really long shirt; people assumed I was wearing shorts, because who thinks someone is going to wander around town with no pants?!)

Keep on making the world a better place. Fly your freak flag, and fly it proud!

I made similar remarks about not walking on the grass recently myself. I've been thinking that if there were two things I would do with a steamroller... one would be to drive it across a patch of grass marked with a "Do not walk on the grass" sign...
...and the other would be to drop it on someone, jump on top of it and scream "WRYYYYYYYYYYYY!" .... but thats another story.

Yes it is pedantic of you, but its also very amusing. I approve entirely. Considering how many things in this world need to be idiot-proofed (Heard the story of the guy who couldn't find the "Any" key?) these days, I imagine those should be added to the list.

Obey the letter of the law and not the spirit... I don't know how pedantic that is, but it's something.

It may not get you into trouble, but it is certainly tasteless -- and thoughtless. You are well aware of the intent of all of the messages, and have chosen to ignore it.
