Any Japanese or German or Korean car with 270HP-330HP can reach up to 155mph. Today, most V6 engines in Japanese cars make that power and reach that governed limited speed. 155mph. Any Porsche can easily reach 160mph. Even the slowest and cheapest, the Porsche Boxster. For American cars, you need 400HP cars to reach 150 mph easily. They need more power because they are usually less aerodynamic and heavier. Example: The 300HP Mustang GT only reaches 146mph. Honda S2000 Nissan 350z Mazda RX-8 and RX-7. Saturn Sky Redline Pontiac Solstice GXP Pontiac GTO Ford Mustang GT500 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Nissan Maxima New Honda Accord V6 and Nissan Altima V6 and Toyota Camry V6. Mitsubishi Lancer Evo or Eclipse GT Subaru Impreza WRX or Subaru Impreza WRX STI. VW R32 VW Passat V6.

Currently the wordls fastest STREET LEGAL super car is the Bugatti Veyron. With a W-16 engine putting out 1001 hp to the wheels of this 4100 pound monster, this car does 0-62mph in 2.5 sec, with a reported top speed of 252 mph. It also costs around 1.2 million dollars...*sigh.
Compared with the Koenigsegg whs stats are as follows:

0–62 mph 3.2 seconds, 245 mph top speed
8-cylinder, 806hp. weight: 2601 punds

The fastest car in the world is "The Rocket Car" first tested in Boneville Flats in Utah. It broke the sound barrier and topped at 753 mph.
Obviously this is not street legal but I think it answered your question.

Thrust SSC. But Richard Hammond now has the British record - although it nearly killed him! There is a video on my website of a car that can beat the Ferrari and Porsche - if you mean road cars.
