(I posted this eariler this morning received few answers)

I had an "elective ultrasound" a few days ago. Much to the tech's suprise... and my own... As big as my son is he is still very much in the breech postion. His head his up in my ribs and his legs are folded upwards with his feet right in his face. I am 32 weeks and I know I still have time for him to move in the proper position, but I can't help but think as big as he is now that it will only become harder for him to move his entire body 180 degrees.

Are there any ways to encourge him to start moving his head down towards my pelvic area? Any excercises I can do?

At what time do babies normally move in to that postion?

I was very fortunate with my first child, as he was in postion by the time I was 30 weeks, and he was a very big baby.

I had the same problem with my last (5th) baby. My midwife told me to get on all fours and let my belly drop/relax. Stay like that and you can sway back and forth/side to side as you want but the idea is that in that position with your belly relaxed you are giving baby extra room to make the turn and he will be encouraged to do so. I did it twice a day, morning and night for about a week. I never actually 'felt' him move but he did!

Keep in mind that some babies are late turners period. My 3rd and 4th babies turned around 36 weeks. Dr's were preparing for a C-section etc but they both turned on their own and everything went well.

I've seen an excerise that a nurse did to a belly of a pregnant woman who was laying down. She sort of massaged the belly and slowly moved the baby from within the womb into the proper position. I'm not sure if it's for breech position, but I know she did it because the baby kept moving into the wrong position.

Babies usually turn around by the beginning of the 9th month.
As for your question about encouraging the baby to turn, I have a story for you. This one woman I knew said her baby was in a head down position, but then right before the baby was due, it turned around.
The doctor's tried everything to turn the baby, but couldn't. She was upset that she would have to get a c-section. However, her mom came up with a strange plan, that suprisingly actually worked. Her mother took her to the mall and they went up and down on the elevators, and the baby actually turned. It has something to do with the gravity and being pulled downward in the elevator. Maybe you should try it, I don't know if it will work for you too, but it did for her, so I feel it is worth a try, right?

I had a large baby that was stuck breach also. Just being on all fours was not enough. My midwife told me to rest with my hips up on the sofa and my shoulders down on the floor for 15 minutes every hour or so. I actually felt a flop about the 3rd time. It can also help to take a warm bath before so that the muscles are very relaxed and there is more room for your little bundle to flip around.

I wish you much luck!!!!

My son was in the breach position and the delivery nurse told my wife to get on her hands and knees and rock her pelvis (There is a name for this but this happened over 24 years ago so I forgot it). The Doctor was sceptical but the baby did turn to the correct position before birth.

My daughter was breech up and until the day I delivered. i was scheduled for a c-section on a monday and went into labor on a sunday and had her naturally. when I went into the doctors office they tried to turn her. They basically told me there really isnt anything I could do to turn her but I still masagged my stomache. played some music and made sure she stayed active. She turned all on her own. He ws a healthy 7 pound baby.

Best wishes to you
