im goin to buy a laptop and want to spend about £500 what is the best one and a giood place to buy it?

One thing to remember is a laptop is as only good as it warranty so a 3 year warranty should be standard as I know to several people people with dead laptops that were more expensive to fix then replaced
5 Sony Vios dead between 13 months and 19 months
3 dells died 16 moths to 22 months
2 HP 26 months and one special one
43 months and it was covered due to the fact HP offered to extend his warranty for an extra year for 99 bucks
my Laptop is a HP ZD7000 and the 3 year warranty also just expired but i also renewing mine for 99 for an extra year
so I say HP rules as my friends wit Sony ever got an extended warranty offer beyond the original and I use my laptop a lot and has had my mother board already replaced in year 3 of the warranty
also one other thing about the warranty it also very important on how long it takes to get service
MY Friends dell was sent off and it took 4 months to get it back and he called India to set up the service and it took him 9 agents before he found one that knew what to do
when I sent my HP off for service they sent FedEx to pick up the laptop and paid FedEx to overnight it to them on Monday I had it back with a new motherboard and back panel which was scratched but ok that Thursday 3 days Later.
that service so I recommend HP
also remember that a laptops is almost non upgradeable so it important to get the one you be happy with even if it a little more expensive.
So make you like the you like the keyboard and monitor as while you can use external monitors and keyboards as it rather defeats the reason to buy a lap top

i have just bought an Acer travelmate 4260 series which is excellent - my previous laptop was also an Acer (travelmate 2200 series) you have a 12 month warranty with the option of extending it for 3 years - i bought both of these from acer online and saved myself lots of money !!

The laptop brand that has the best Price/quality relation is ACER

mines good..its an ADVENT 7081..never had a problem with it but got it as a pressie so not sure how much it was
