Don't mind the cameras recording your every move, it's for your protection and safety. Don't mind us hearing all your conversations, it's for you protection and safety. Don't mind us arresting those who we stamp as terrorists without proof, it is for your protection and safety. Do you rather be protected and safe or be free?

I believe the fear mongering is all the Reps have, and they love to pull it out. Ever notice that right before every holiday they up the terror threat level? Just so you'll keep in mind as you try to enjoy your family that there is the potential that you could be killed any second by some terrorist. Then when the holiday is over, you'll say, oh thank God our president is watching out for us...it's the games of control being mindlessly played by the weak and fearful.

I often hear people say if you're not hiding anytihng, what are you worried about? Apparantly, these people know nothing of our Consitiution which protects ordinary citizens from unreasonable search and seizure, from the sorts of activities described in the original question. Just because I have nothing to hide does not mean it is any of your business! Using that same logic, if our president had nothing to hide, why would he not testify publicly or under oath or iin writing to the 911 commission? Using that logic, it can only mean he had plenty to hide, from how vigorously he fought them.

If I needed any proof whatsoever that this government is not in control, AND that nobody is actually waiting to attack us, all I need to do is think about Hurricaine Katrina. They bungled (to be mild) the evacuation of a very small number of people when they were given several days' advance warning. Then, they tell people to go to the convention center, but can't get food or water there for DAYS? Disgraceful! Our government can't handle a small scale disaster (only 1 major city and many smaller towns effected-not the entire East Coast or a huge city like LA or NYC). It occurred to me during all of this that if I was a terrorist waiting for the right time to strike, and I had been planning on hitting the US for years, I think I would have seized on my opportunity while FEMA was running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out how to feed a few thousand! That was prime time for a strike, and amazingly, nothing happened! What, you think the terrorists felt sorry for us? Didn't want to kick us when we were down? Don't be silly, there is no terrorist threat.

Safety. We have people who have vowed to kill Americans and bring down our country and democracy. If you are not doing or saying things that are illegal, why would you be concerned?

Both with moderations of the two. Stop the unlawful phone taps and the wrongful arrest give me good old fashioned protection. What happened to innocent until proven guilty.
