anyone know how much a guy should expect to pay for adoption in CA if it is from sister to sister/husband. My sisterin law who has raised her baby with us for 7 1/2 months and moved in pregnant without telling anyone has decited that her life is to important for her baby and wants to go back to her old ways... we jst want to have a heads up on hat we need to be prepared to pay for all the fees.... thanks.

technically, the fees are only what the court will charge to do the paperwork. which can be $300-500 dollars. this will depend on if the both of you know what you are doing legally. an attorney will cost you more obviously. which can range from $5K to 10K. you can have a paralegal prepare all the paperwork for you for maybe $500.00. But it is best you have an attorney do this for you. this way she doesn't come back and try to reclaim her child. Unless you are willing to do a temprary custodial custody for maybe later when the sister decides to grow up.

I believe California is one of the easiest and cheapest states to adopt in. I have heard attorney's fees will be roughly $4,000 to $5,000.

There are probably other fees and costs I am not aware of.
